In the words of one of the “We Care Campaign” donors…”WOW! It’s awesome news that the hospital is open and running! It’s a great testament to our hometown and the way they pull together!” All of us who have had a role in the formation of the new hospital building are equally pleased.
During the summer and fall months the donor wall and the heritage wall at the new Oakes Community Hospital have been installed. The donor wall lists all those people who donated to the nearly $1.5 million that was raised in our region. It lists the contributions from those “Lemonade Stand’ youth who gave in coins to those who contributed in hundreds of thousands of dollars! All contributions were of value - in money and in charity.
The heritage wall of the Oakes Community Hospital shows, through pictures, the history of the Oakes Hospital from the early years with the Sisters to our new building completed in 2007.
The unveiling of the donor wall and the heritage wall will be on Sunday, December 7, in conjunction with the Hospital Auxiliary annual Tour of Homes. There will be a short ceremony at the hospital with remarks and a blessing at 1:00 pm. All are invited – and especially those who may want to see their names in print! There will be cookies and beverages available. And then you will be encouraged to purchase your ticket, if you have not already done so, and visit the beautiful homes on the tour.
Giving to the Oakes Community Hospital Foundation is cumulative. For gifts totaling $1000 or more, a name plate will be placed on the donor wall. So please keep the OCH Foundation in your charitable giving plan. You may send your gift to Oakes Community Hospital Foundation Office, PO Box 1, Oakes, ND 58474 or contact Kathy Sitzler at 742-3291.
