Oakes Community Hospital employees recently participated in a community service project called Project Night Night, providing 30 bags with books, blankets and stuffed animals to the Kedish House of Ellendale. The Kedish House is a domestic violence resource serving the local area. Sharron Brady, Project Manager of the Kedish House stated “We appreciate this so much. It will be wonderful for the children, especially those who need to leave their homes in the middle of the night.”

Project Night Night is a national organization dedicated to improving the lives of homeless and displaced children by providing them with Night Night Packages. Each Night Night Package includes a tote bag stuffed with the essential comfort items of childhood: a security blanket, an age-appropriate book, and a stuffed animal. Project Night Night helps these children have sweeter dreams.
“We rely on the community to help us further the cause of caring for the children of the homeless community,” states Kendra Robins, Executive Director of Project Night Night. “To that end, we’re delighted that Oakes Community Hospital has come on board to help us provide our Night Night Packages to even more children this year.”
“When you think about domestic violence, you don’t always think about the housing issues it can cause,” states Monica Jo Ptacek, RN at Oakes Community Hospital, “and unfortunately domestic violence often displaces children from their homes with very little warning. We’re delighted to team up with Project Night Night and the Kedish House to help domestic violence victims to find comfort.”
